The Best Gifts for Introverts

The Best Gifts for Introverts

Did you know that introverts make up between 25% to 40% of the population? Based on that statistic, the chances are that you’ll likely be buying a gift for an introvert this holiday season. But, what do you get them?

Finding the perfect gift for anyone can be a challenge — from the awkward office Secret Santa for a colleague to buying for the person who changes their style every week. So, what on earth do you get for your friend who’d rather befriend a fictional character than a real human? And, what gift should you settle on for the cousin who always sits in the corner with their headphones on during family functions?

Here at Displate, we understand introverts. From the cozy gamers and shy movie-buffs to the bookworms and astrology geeks, we welcome them all with open arms into our fandom-friendly safe space.

If you’ve got a special person who loves introverting, allow us to guide you through what to get them this year.

1. Noise-Canceling Headphones

Starting off strong, if you can help make the world a little less loud for your introverted friend or family member, they’ll love you forever. A reliable pair of noise-canceling headphones is the perfect gift, an essential for introverts to carry with them and slip on on public transport or other crowded places to listen to their favorite bands, podcasts, or audiobooks.

2. A Passive-Aggressive Candle

Nothing will let your introverted friend know that you understand them more than decor encouraging their guests to not outstay their welcome.

Ask any introvert what their worst nightmare is and they’ll unanimously say: guests who don’t know when to go home. If you know an introvert who regularly plays host, subtle decor that may or may not say “Please leave by 9 pm” is a funny and lighthearted way to show them you’re on their level.

After all, to be loved is to be known.

3. For the Corporate Introvert

This one’s a great idea for the introvert in your life who works in an office or similar corporate setting. Usually, office workers will have their own mug (trust us, it’s a thing). So, what better way to help your introverted friend express themselves at work than with a humorous mug that politely tells all their colleagues to keep their distance? PS: This option is also a safe bet for the office Secret Santa too.

4. Facilitate Naps Anywhere

That introverts and homebodies love naps is as true as true can be. Be it on a flight, on the train, after work, or before a social event, if your introverted friend isn’t replying to your texts, it’s more than likely because they’re curled up in the fetal position, sleeping.

Such an affinity for napping makes a sleep set or a sleep mask the go-to gift for introverts. When it comes to sleep masks, choose one that matches their personality or interests like this celestial mask.

5. An Essential Oil Diffuser

Part and parcel of being an introvert is periodically retreating into some kind of cozy hovel to recharge social battery — be it a duvet fort or a reading nook. If a lot of ‘introverting’ is going on, it’s safe to assume that their air in said hovel might benefit from a refresh every now and then. So, number 11 on our list is an essential oil room diffuser, designed to keep air smelling great and fresh, regardless of the duration or extent of introverting going on in a room.

6. A ‘Go Away’ Doormat

Next up, we have a new take on the humble doormat. In true introvert style, any messaging that (not so) politely encourages people to stay away has got to go down well, right?

7. A ‘Go Away’ Door Sign

Ok, you might be sensing a theme here…

A central tenet of introvertism (did we just coin that term?) is an overwhelming desire to be rid of any nuisance — namely people. So, lending your introverted friend or family member a helping hand in the form of person-deterrent decor is bound to please.

Door signs are an excellent gift for teenage introverts as, for those guys, privacy and personal space are everything.

8. For Introverts in the Wild

On the rare occasion that introverts head outdoors to a setting that isn’t a solo hike or a quiet trip to the library, they’re going to need somewhere to store all of their… introvert things.

A slogan tote bag is ideal in terms of practicality and identification. By the latter we mean: a funny bag allows introverts to identify each other in the wild — and group together for protection.

9. One for the Couch Potato

A great love for curling up on the sofa goes hand in hand with the title of “Introvert”. From solo movie marathons on rainy days to creating digital art on their tablets from the comfort of their favorite couch indentation, the sofa is the primary residence of the introvert. So, why not make it even more hospitable for them with an iPad (or tablet) pillow to work, read, draw, or watch films on without having to shift position?

10. The Best Blanket Ever

Continuing with the cozy vibes, no one hunkers down quite like introverts in the winter, making blankets, pillows, onesies, and PJs the obvious choices for a Christmas gift.

But, we’re not talking about any ordinary blanket, oh no. This needs to be the fluffiest, chunkiest, softest throw they’ve ever seen: big enough so that their feet don’t stick out the bottom and heavy enough to wear as a cape around the house. They’ll thank you later.

11. Socks, Socks, Socks

No gift guide would ever be complete without socks — and who are we to depart from tradition? Consider socks a blank canvas on which to convey any message, from “Leave me alone!” to “Go away, I’m introverting”. Sometimes, if you don’t know the best way to say something, say it with socks.

12. A Journaling Notebook

Let’s face it, most of our interactions with introverts consist of looking at the top of their head as their peer over a book, journal, or their phone — and we’re ok with that.

Journaling, reading, scrapbooking, and spending time online are among the top-rated activities of the introvert. So, indulge them a little in your gifts and give the people what they want: notebooks!

Found scribbling in cafes or on park benches, introverts love to jot down their thoughts or sketches in a journal, safe from prying eyes, making a lockable notepad the ideal gift.

13. An emotional support bean bag

Whether as part of a cozy gaming set-up or a luxurious reading nook, every introvert needs an emotional support bean bag. We know that gamers and bookworms aren’t renowned for having the best posture, so give them a gentle nudge in the right direction this Christmas with a gift that they can sprawl out on (and get that well-needed spinal support).

14. A hoodie (for disguise, of course)

On the odd occasion that introverts have to venture into public (you know, for snacks), the chances are they’ll appreciate a big cozy hoodie to act as a defensive layer against people. Note: here, the bigger the hood the better – to shroud themselves in while running errands.

15. A Metal Poster

Last but not least, why a Displate metal poster of course!

Introverts typically spend a lot of time recharging from social interactions in their safe place — usually their bedroom. And what better way to show your introvert friend or family member that they’re truly being understood for who they are than with some thoughtful room decor?

Here are just a few of our favorite light-hearted, introvert-themed Displates that we think would make the perfect gift:
