June 30, 2022 by Displate Artists Team in Art Stories, Artist Interviews

If you are seeking romance in life, you need Collagesoul’s art on your walls. Inspired by all things space and vintage, she takes us for a long walk on the Milky Way. We have recently caught up with her to talk about her background, magical surrealism and favorite works. Scroll down and discover the artist of this week’s On the spot.

What is your artistic background?

I graduated in graphic design and visual communication.

Where do you live and what does your studio look like?

I live in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. My studio is my bedroom and it is full of different art.

If you could pick one place to spend much of your time creating, what would it be?

My friend has a beautiful place with a sea view and at night I can see the sky full of stars. That’s my favorite place to create.

To the end

Your collages are full of stars and planets. Is space your biggest inspiration?

Yes, space is my biggest inspiration. When I was a kid I used to dream about flying and playing with stars and planets.

You refer to Magic Surrealism when describing your art. Where does this style come from?

Surrealism was a cultural movement which developed in Europe in the aftermath of World War I and was largely influenced by Dada. The movement is best known for its visual artworks and writings and the juxtaposition of distant realities to activate the unconscious mind through the imagery. I think that my art belongs to this movement and I called it magic because I tried to bring out the magic in our imagination.

Do you have your favorite collage? What’s the story behind it?

My favorite collage is Pink Day, which shows a family having a psychedelic funny day with pink mountains and a pink moon. I was imagining how it would be to spend a day like this.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not creating?

Going to the beach and hanging out with friends.

What is your biggest dream as an artist?

Bring joy to everyone through my art.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to grow as an artist, learn new skills, and continuously develop my art.

You got me in love
